Brendan Boyce has given up on his dream of qualifying for this year’s Olympic Games in Paris.

The Milford walker has posted a message to fans on Facebook that he has finally resigned himself to the fact that he has run out of time to qualify.

Boyce has competed at the top level and has represented Ireland around the globe including Olympic Games in London, Brazil and Japan.

Boyce said “Unfortunately after a 2C hamstring tear last month at the World Championship I’ve run out of road to recover in time for the European championships next month.

“This also means I’ve missed too many races now to qualify for the Olympics in the 20km.”
