Letterkenny’s Alma Kavanagh has been appointed the new principal of Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál, Letterkenny.
Ms Kavanagh will take over the role from Irene Simmons on her retirement this summer after 14 years leading the Loreto-affiliated primary school.
Alma is the current principal of St Joseph’s National School Rathmullan and has been actively involved in the Rathmullan communitu and Letterkenny life as a St Eunan’s GAA stalwart. She also served as principal of Scoil Chaitríona National School in Ballyshannon.
Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál, originally an all-girls school, entered a new phase when it became a co-ed primary school in 2018.
