Finn Valley AC’s Mark English and Tir Chonaill’s Kelly McGrory have been chosen for the initial squad selection for the upcoming European Athletics Championships.
English, a previous championship medal winner, will be returning to European action for the 800m. He is coached by Feidhlim Kelly.
His clubmate Roisin Flanagan is among the provisional selections for the 5000m (pending confirmation from European Athletics). Roisin is coached by Damon Martin.
Kelly McGrory, coached by Hayley & Drew Harrison will compete in the Women’s 4x400m.
The European Athletics Championships take place in Rome from June 7th – 12th.
The Athletics Ireland announcement confirms the selection of those with A standards and the qualified relay teams, while athletes qualifying via ranking position and having achieved a B standard will be confirmed after European Athletics produces its final list of qualifiers today.
