Funding has been secured for repairs to Killybegs’ Lough Head bridge, boosting plans for completing a safe walkway in the area.
The structure is situated on what was part of the old road between the port town and Dunkineely.
Local councillor, Niamh Kennedy, said funds have also been obtained under the Community Involvement Scheme (CIS) to resurface the road.
“This will be a lovely amenity when finished,” she said.
“It’s a wonderful route that passes ‘The Cells’, away from the busy main road. It’s quite short, but it’s very pretty. The old main road was widened by the CIS funding last year to help walkers continue the loop to The Commons.”
