Family, friends and colleagues of the late Colm Ferry gathered yesterday to mark the unveiling of a memorial seat in his honour by the Letterkenny Community Heritage Group.

Mr. Ferry, who passed away in June 2019, was a pillar of the local credit union for more than 40 years and left an indelible mark on the community.

Colm Ferry’s legacy extends beyond his professional life; he was also deeply involved with Fianna Fáil, the Knights of Columbanus, and the Letterkenny Heritage Group.

These affiliations brought him many close friendships and further underscored his role as a community stalwart. Nearly five years after his passing, the sense of loss remains profound, but his memory continues to inspire and comfort those who knew him.

The commemorative seat, sponsored by The Credit Union, is situated across from Mac’s Deli, directly overlooking the building where Colm dedicated so much of his life to serving others. The seat offers a place to rest and remember a man who had a true enduring impact on Letterkenny life.

Cllr Jimmy Kavanagh described the memorial as “a fitting tribute to an all round good guy who loved his town, his work, his politics and his community.”
