Fine Gael are topping the polls in all three of the EU electoral areas in the Republic of Ireland, including Midlands North-West.
That’s according to the latest Sunday Independent/Ireland Thinks poll.
Maria Walsh of Fine Gael tops the first-preference opinion polls in Midlands North-West at 12.5%, closely followed by Independent Luke “Ming” Flanagan at 12.1%.
Fianna Fáil’s Barry Cowen, Aontú’s Peadar Tóibín and Sinn Féin’s Michelle Gildernew would fill the remaining seats in the tightly-contested five seat constituency based on the first-preference poll.
Nationally, Fine Gael and Sinn Fein are level on 22% support each, with Sinn Fein’s support dropping by a full seven percentage points since last month – Independent candidates are the most popular, at 23%.
