Ardara native Siobhán Shovlin was re-elected to Fingal County Council at the weekend following a successful campaign for Fine Gael.

Shovlin was elected on the fifth count, taking the second Fine Gael seat in Castleknock. The party won seven seats, matched by the Independents and Labour Party.

Shovlin was co-opted to the council in 2020 to replace Senator Emer Currie.

She currently works as a primary school teacher in Blanchardstown, prior to this she taught in Cabra, Glasnevin and Ballymun.

The daughter of Conal and Bernadette Shovlin, Siobhan maintains close links with Donegal through her work with the Donegal Association in Dublin.
