A fund has been established for a Co Donegal man who is in desperate need of a heart transplant.
Kieron McGee, who is originally from Castlefin, moved to the US more than 20 years ago.
Despite many health issues in recent years, Kieron built his own successful business and is a loving and devoted father to his son Cody.
Back in 2022, Kieron started having chest pains and shortening of breath.
He was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, had several heart attacks, a blood clot in his left ventricle, in which stents have been placed due to blockages.
His heart is enlarged and pumping out at 25% which makes it harder to work and pump out the normal amount of blood as he is at risk of sudden cardiac arrest and now has the help of an internal defibrillator.
This coupled with Rheumatoid arthritis and fiber neuropathy, has made it impossible for him to continue to work. On his last hospital visit he was informed he would need a heart pump or more likely a heart transplant and is on a waitlist, which could take a year.
As a result of not being able to work, Kieron and his family are facing economic hardship. Medical bills, mortgage payments and household bills have been building up. While caring for his son, Cody, Kieron has done his best to stay afloat without asking for help.
Now his friend Damien Rush has started a GoFundMe page in a bid to help Kieron is some small way as he waits on hopefully will be a lifesaving operation.
Damien said “That is why I am asking anyone who can afford to please do so. Whether in Ireland or USA, any donation will go a long way to help Kieron on his long journey ahead.”
Any donations will be used to help pay for Kieron’s out-of-pocket medical care (e.g. co-pays, deductibles, and uncovered costs), as well as, for everyday expenses (e.g bills, food, medical supplies, etc.).
“I thank you and greatly appreciate any support you can provide, whether it’s a donation or sharing this campaign with your friends and family,” added Damien.
