Gardai in Letterkenny were left shocked after discovering the braking system of a seized car was held together by a vise-grip and plastic clips.
The car was one of a number of seized in Letterkenny last night.
Gardai said the braking system were “shockingly dangerous.”
A spokesperson added “This makeshift braking system was discovered when Gardaí inspected a vehicle in Letterkenny this evening.
“The vehicle in question was one of those seized for being dangerous & defective.”
The driver of the car will appear in court.
Gardaí say they will be conducting checkpoints and carrying out vehicle inspections all weekend.
“Do not put lives at risk on the roads. Make responsible decisions when it comes to road safety,” added the spokesperson.
