Rising Donegal musician Muireann Bradley was honoured with an invitation to perform at Áras an Uachtaráin this week.

She was invited to perform for President Michael D Higgins at a garden party the President and his wife Sabina were hosting this week.

The garden party was held for a range of special guests celebrating diversity within Irish communities.

Muireann and her trusty guitar delivered a great performance for the President and the attendees.

She spoke of her pride in performing at Áras an Uachtaráin on social media.

“On Wednesday I had the amazing honour of being invited to Áras an Uachtaráin to perform for President Michael D. Higgins, his wife Sabina and their guests at a garden party celebrating communities in all their diversities.”

“The president gave a long and stirring speech and shows no signs of slowing down despite recent health issues.”

Muireann also noted the importance of having her family along with her for the journey – including her Granny making some friends in high places!

“I was accompanied by my parents and my brother Oisín and sister Ríoghainn and it was a real treat for me to be able to have Noreen and Brendan (better known as Granny and Granda) there with me on this special day.”

“I think Granny enjoyed herself more than anyone there and I think she made a new friend in Sabina.”
