Jacob Skov Olesen tames Ballyliffin to become R&A Amateur Champion

Denmark’s Jacob Skov Olesen won the prestigious R&A Amateur Championship held at Ballyliffin Golf Club this weekend.

The 25-year-old Dane held his nerve in a tight battle with Englishman Dominic Clemons to take the title over the 36 hole tournament.

As a reward for winning, Olesen will now receive an invite to the British Open next month, as well as the 2025 US Open and Masters Championship – provided that he remains an amateur.

The 88th-ranked amateur golfer in the world, Olesen built a multi-stroke lead early on, and despite Clemons’ best efforts to close the gap, Olesen won out 4&3.
