Parish Priest of Conwal & Leck, Monsignor Kevin Gillespie, is to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood this July.

The Gweedore-native will mark the significant occasion in St Eunan’s Cathedral Letterkenny on Thursday 4th July at 7pm.

Mgr Gillespie is the current Diocesan Administrator in Raphoe. He took on the caretaker role in March after Bishop Alan McGuckian’s move to Down and Connor. Mgr Gillespie’s caretaker role ensures the basic administration of the diocese until a new Bishop is appointed.

Monsignor Gillespie also serves as the Administrator of St. Eunan’s Cathedral, Letterkenny. Previously he served as curate in Baile na Finne and at St. Eunan’s Cathedral before working for nine years at the Congregation for Clergy in Rome. During his time at the Vatican, he was a Master of Ceremonies to two Popes – Pope Benedict and the current pontiff, Pope Francis.

All are welcome to the Silver Jubilee celebration, which will be followed by refreshments at Loreto Secondary School. Fr Kevin has requested that no gifts of any kind be given. If you would like to offer your help in any way, please contact 086 087 0446. Home bakers particularly required.
