Celebrations rang through Letterkenny town centre yesterday afternoon as the Letterkenny Chamber marked the phenomenal growth of the ShopLK scheme over the past two decades.

The event at An Grianan plaza kicked off a series of festivities planned for the coming weeks and months to commemorate ShopLK’s 20th birthday.

Guests from the business community and wider Letterkenny community came together to reflect on the ShopLK initiative’s history and team effort in keeping shopping local. The event highlighted the importance of ShopLK vouchers and promotions in supporting local jobs and promoting Letterkenny as a thriving retail destination.  Music, burgers, and ice cream added to the party atmosphere.

Established in 2004 by the Letterkenny Chamber, ShopLK has grown from strength to strength. Gift card sales have seen year-on-year increases, solidifying ShopLK Gift Cards as the preferred gift option for any occasion and a popular employee reward. ShopLK voucher sales reached an impressive €5,740,277 in 2023.

As ShopLK gift cards are only redeemable in Letterkenny, this brings profit to the town and supports local jobs. Records show that at least one third of customers using the card, often spend up to 4 times the value so last year’s spending could be a potential injection of up to €20m.

Stay tuned to ShopLK social media for more.
