Tour company left devastated after stolen caravan destroyed in fire

A West Donegal watersports company is reeling after a devastating double blow this week.

Selkie Sailing’s storage unit, a vintage caravan normally parked at Magheroarty pier, was allegedly stolen two days ago.

Sadly, company owner Gareth Doherty then discovered the caravan burnt out on the side of the road yesterday.

“It’s a financial ‘loss’ that we might not be able to recover,” the Dohertys said.

The caravan stored all the company’s surfboards and bodyboards, which are vital equipment for their tours.

Despite the setback, the Doherty’s expressed gratitude for the local community’s support in allowing them to use the space on the pier up until now.

However, this week’s act of vandalism has left them disheartened.

“It’s disappointing. If anyone has any information we would like to hear from you,” the company pleaded in an online appeal.

If you have any information, please contact Selkie Sailing on Facebook.
