Children’s Minister Roderic O’Gorman has been elected as the new leader of the Green Party.

Mr O’Gorman from Dublin West won the support of a narrow majority of the members over rival Pippa Hackett.

Mr O’Gorman took home 984 votes, compared to Ms Hackett’s 912.

The election follows the departure of Eamon Ryan, who left national politics last month after first taking office over 25 years ago
