Gardaí are investigating a destructive burglary incident in Donegal Town last week, where several farm buildings were ransacked.

The break-in spree was reported in the area of Drumenagh area sometime between midday on Monday the 24th of June and 5pm on Monday the 1st of July.

Entry was gained to a vacant farmhouse after a downstairs window was smashed. The interior was ransacked and a bronze horse and cart ornament was taken, along with several bottles of alcohol. Gardaí are currently determining if anything else was taken.

The perpetrator(s) also targeted the property’s outbuildings, breaking padlocks to gain access and ransacking the interiors.

A garda spokesperson issued an appeal to anybody who may have observed any suspicious activity in that area over the course of that week to make contact with Gardaí. Any relevant information should be passed to Gardaí in Ballyshannon on 071-9858530. The Garda Confidential Line may be contacted on 1800 666 111.
