The peaceful death has been announced of well-known publican, Maureen Elliott, of Elliotts Bar, Meenagowan, Lettermacaward.

The late Mrs Elliott (née O’Donnell) will be remembered for her warm welcome to the thousands of visitors to the bar over the decades. She has also been described as the ‘heartbeat’ of the local community in Leitir and will be sadly missed.

Her remains will repose in McGlynn’s Funeral Home, Dungloe, from 12 noon today until Rosary at 8pm followed by a private removal to Lettermacaward. The house in Lettermacaward is strictly private. The Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday in St Bridget’s Church, Lettermacaward, at 11am with interment afterwards in the New Cemetery.

The late Mrs Elliott is survived by her loving husband Paddy, daughter Mary Rose, sons Patrick (Fiona), Daniel ( Deirdre) and Conor. She also leaves behind her adored grandchildren Darragh, Maryanne, Hannah Mae, Paddy, Danny and Sonny as well as her brother Hughie (Renee) and all her nieces, nephews and extended family.
