Hundreds of staff at Zeus in Letterkenny facing temporary redundancy

It’s understood that hundreds of jobs could potentially be at threat at the Zeus plant in Letterkenny.

As many as 200 employees have been told they will not be needed for the first week of August, after a similar incident at the start of July where employees were made temporarily redundant for a week also.

These temporary redundancies come as the company is still working on completing an extension to its facilities in Letterkenny, which are expected to produce an additional 90 jobs.

The temporary week-long layoffs are understood to be the result of a downturn in demand for the company’s plastic and rubber manufacturing products post-Covid.

However the company has committed its future to remaining in Letterkenny and completing its planned expansion in the town, with the long-term vision for the company still being positive.
