An Aer Lingus flight from Italy to Dublin had to be diverted this morning due to a mechanical issue with the plane.
The flight from Rome was scheduled to land in Dublin, but was diverted to Shannon Airport after pilots noticed a potential mechanical issue had developed with the aircraft.
Emergency services at Shannon Airport were on standby as the plane landed.
Due to the mechanical error, the plane could not move itself off the runway once it came to a stop, and had to be towed to its stand.
According to reports on social media, the plane suffered a potential hyrdraulic issue and has to remain at Shannon for further checks.
Now passengers will have to wait to be transferred to Dublin after the diversion.
