Termon 5-14 v 2-04 Aodh Rua

By Charlie Collins at MacCumhaill Park

Played in perfect conditions at MacCumhaill Park, Termon got the perfect start with a Geraldine McLaughlin goal in the first minute, slotting home when a long ball in cleared the defence and left her clear on goal.

Aodh Rua responded well to this early set-back and after missing a few good chances opened their account with a free from Gillian Difficy in the seventh minute. After that Termon took control, Jodie McFadden pointed, Ciara McGarvey scored a goal, Geraldine McLaughlin added two points, Meabh Brady scored two goals from close range and Roisin Friel tapped over a point.

Gillian Difficy added her second point and after twenty four minutes it was 4-05 to 0-02 and looking very much like game over. However to their credit Aod Rua hit back with two quick goals, both from Gillian Difficy, the first from a penalty which saw Termon Goalkeeper Olra Corry receive a yellow card for a foot block, 4-05 to 2-02.

But Termon responded in the final minutes of the half with four points in a row, three from Geraldine McLaughlin and one from Ciara McGarvey to lead by 4-09 to 2-02. Aodh Rua sub Eimear McMahon scored with her first touch in the second-half but Geraldine McLaughlin and Jodie McFadden quickly replied.

A Jodie McFadden goal completed the scoring rout for Termon as they ran out deserved Division 1 winners at MacCumhaill Park.
