The peaceful death has been announced of well-known publican, Peter Mc Laughlin of Newtowncunningham.
The late Mr Mc Laughlin was the heartbeat of the local community, warmly welcoming locals and visitors alike to Peter’s Bar on Main Street. Mr Mc Laughlin and his family have held a tradition of supporting and hosting local fundraisers over the years.
Mr McLaughlin passed peacefully today in the caring hands of the staff in the Donegal Hospice.

Predeceased by his parents Peter and Catherine, his wife Anna (2014), brothers Phil and Charlie, sisters Greta & Bernadette. Peter will be sorely missed by his sons Dominic (Anne), Gregory (Majella), Malachy, John (Terry), Philip, David (Stephen), daughters Suzanna (Tony), Catherine (Marcus), Sarah (Rahul), eighteen grandchildren & four great-grandchildren. Fondly remembered by extended family members neighbours & many friends.
Removal from the Eternal Light Chapel of Rest, Letterkenny (F92 XE35) this evening, Thursday, the 8th of August, at 6.00pm going to his late residence. Funeral from there on Sunday morning, 11th August, for requiem mass in All Saint’s Church Newtowncunningham at 11.00am, followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.
