Heartfelt tributes following passing of respected nurse, Breid Mc Gill

Tributes have poured in following the passing of a much-respected Glenties woman renowned for her compassionate care for others.

Breid (Brigid) Mc Gill of Gortnamucklagh and formerly Glen Road, Glenties, passed away on Wednesday surrounded by her family in the loving care of the staff of the Donegal Hospice.

The palliative care nurse has been remembered as a ‘lady’ full of kindness who brought invaluable comfort to countless patients and their families.

“Breid was held in very high regard in our community and beyond and she will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her,” said a tribute from Naomh Conaill G.A.A Club.

“In her role as a palliative care nurse, she touched on many homes and families, where she carried out her duties in a caring, supportive and professional manner as she provided comfort to her patients.

“We offer our sincere condolences to Breid’s sisters Ann Edel, Carmel, Mary, brothers Kevin and Denis, nieces, nephews, all the extended families, her many good friends and all her colleagues at Glenties Primary Care Health Centre. May Breid Rest in Peace.”

Obituary Notice: 

The death has occurred in the presence of her family in the loving care of the staff of the Donegal Hospice of Breid (Brigid) Mc Gill, Gortnamucklagh Glenties and formerly Glen Road, Glenties. Predeceased by parents Danny and Rose and brother Conal.

Sadly missed and forever loved by her sisters Mary(Chris), Carmel(Bernie), Ann-Edel (pat), and brothers Kevin (Pauline) and Denis (Mary), nieces, nephews, grandnieces neighbours and her large circle of friends.

Breid remains will repose at her home F94VW66 on Friday (9th August) morning from 10am until 10pm and on Saturday from 10am until 10pm. Funeral mass on Sunday afternoon at 1pm in St. Connells Church, Glenties with burial afterwards in the local cemetery.
