Donegal viewers cheering on Donegal Rose Niamh Shevlin are advised to get their seats on the sofa early, as Niamh will be the first contestant on the stage tonight.

The live shows continue tonight at 8pm on RTE One.

Alongside chatting with hosts Dáithí Ó Sé and Kathryn Thomas, Niamh plans to showcase her champion Irish dancing skills as her party piece.

Niamh, aged 27, is the daughter of Mick and Geralyn from Bomany.

One half of the famous Shevlin twins, Niamh and her brother Gavin began Irish dancing at the age of four. In 2018, Niamh joined Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance, where she held the female lead role of Saoirse for five years. She continues to perform regularly with the Riverdance cast and has travelled to over 50 countries across six continents through her dancing.

Having achieved many of her dreams, Niamh now seeks to share her love of Irish dance with younger generations.

Niamh is also a recently qualified primary school teacher. Her dance teaching has also extended to Africa. After visiting Uganda with Irish Aid in March 2023, she initiated weekly online classes, aiming to inspire a passion for Irish dance among children in the world’s most impoverished regions.
