Over 80 excited Royal and Prior Comprehensive School students, Raphoe, received their Leaving Certificate results this morning.

Although digital devices have replaced the traditional distribution of envelopes, the same air of anticipation is still present among the students in school to get their outcomes. The Class of 2024 recorded an impressive overall 99% pass rate, with nearly 40% of the year achieving over 400 points.

The principal, Dr Howard Welch, remarked that the results showed the substantial efforts and commitment of the students, their teachers and parents over their years in Raphoe. Dr Welch also stated that it was necessary to note that although the Leaving Certificate was a significant moment in a young person’s life, it was just a point on their way to the next stage of their educational journey.

“Our students’ excellent Leaving Certificate results are the consequence of the balanced and rounded education they have received in the Royal and Prior,” he said.

“On behalf of everyone at the Royal, I want to thank the class of 2024 for the wonderful impact they have had on the life of this school, and we look forward to hearing where their many talents take them next.”

The students now head to universities and colleges on both sides of the border, with most having secured their first preference course.
