Ireland’s leading eye hospital is hosting a free drop-in clinic for people in Donegal suffering with cataracts.

The Cathedral Eye Clinic team from Belfast will have a team of experts at the Radisson Hotel in Letterkenny on Wednesday September 11.

People can learn how they can undergo cataract surgery at Cathedral Eye Clinic, with partial reimbursement through the HSE under the Northern Ireland Planned Healthcare Scheme.

“Our experts including Professor Johnny Moore have been treating patients from Donegal under cross-border schemes for more than a decade,” said clinic team leader Joyce Shaw.

“We have noticed an increase in demand recently and so we decided to host a free drop-in clinic in Letterkenny for the day. Anyone who does require surgery can be treated within four to six weeks.”

The dedicated Cross Border team will be available to:

* Guide you through the process and help you get started
* Explain the types of treatments and surgeries that qualify
* Discuss costs and reimbursement rates
* Showcase the state-of-the-art Eye Hospital and dedicated cataract theatre
* Answer any questions and book consultations

The clinic will run from 10.30am until 7pm. Anyone suffering from cataracts can register for a free appointment by emailing victoria.gillespie@cathedraleye.com

Patients do not have to be on a waiting list. The clinic team prepares all the paperwork after surgery for the HSE reimbursement.
