Two pensioners have completed an incredible all-island cycle, going from Donegal to Kerry, as well as the North Pole to the South Pole… well, the pubs named after them anyway!
69 year old Londoner Iain Mentiply, and his friend, 78 year old Charles, made the 500 kilometre cycle from The North Pole in Drumfree, County Donegal, all the way to The South Pole in Annascaul, County Kerry all in aid of charity.
They were raising money for Epilepsy Ireland, in honour of Iain’s late brother-in-law Joe Griffin, who sadly passed away in 2023.
Epilepsy Ireland’s work remains close to Iain and his family, as Joe lived with epilepsy throughout his life and on many occasions received support from the charity’s amazing supports.
After setting off from The North Pole in Donegal, Iain and Charles undertook a six and a half day journey across the length of the island, reaching The South Pole bar in Kerry on Wednesday afternoon.
With their efforts, they have raised a phenomenal €2,900!
