A Donegal photographer has captured an awe-inspiring picture of the Northern Lights spotted from the top of Errigal Mountain overnight.
Letterkenny-based snapper Daragh McDonagh captured the amazing scene.
Daragh, who also runs the popular DonegalMaps account on X, is also one of the county’s best when it comes to capturing the electromagnetic phenomena in stunning detail.

The photo from Errigal shows the Northern Lights covering most of the county on a remarkably clear Summer evening, with the stars literally and metaphorically aligning!
Donegal is a hotspot for the aurora to appear, with its unique geography often allowing for some of the best “dark skies” in Europe to spot the phenomenon occurring.
Daragh also captured this phenomenal shot of him looking out onto the scene from the top of Donegal’s highest peak.
