Home Instead, a leading provider of home care services, is proud to announce its participation in World Alzheimer’s Month by providing its CAREGivers with access to accredited dementia care training.

As part of the campaign, Home Instead will also launch an Activity Guide for CAREGivers, offering a wide range of activities to engage the individuals they care for who are living with dementia.

Home Instead offers CAREGivers accredited City & Guilds dementia care training through its Home Care Professionals Academy. This research-based training course puts the person’s dignity first and teaches practical skills to support people living with dementia in the many ways it can present.

The training was announced during Hiring Week in Donegal, with meet and greet recruitment events taking place across the county.

The team will also be at SuperValu Dungloe on Wednesday, 4th September, from 11am to 2pm, with a Recruitment Day at the Home Instead office in Letterkenny the same day from 9am to 4pm.

If you cannot make the Recruitment Day, you can also apply through the Home Instead website.

On Thursday, 5th September, visit the team at SuperValu Bundoran from 10am to 2pm.

This year, Home Instead is introducing an interesting new event: the Virtual Dementia Tour, which will be in Letterkenny on Friday 6th of September.

This is a uniquely immersive training course which allows people to walk in the shoes of a person living with dementia. Attendees can see, feel, and hear what the world might be like for a person living with dementia through the use of specially designed equipment which will impair their physical and sensory abilities.

The tour is delivered on a state-of-the-art mobile simulator, widely referred to as the dementia bus, and participants will spend a short amount of time experiencing the world in the same way that a person living with dementia might.

The tour is backed up by scientific and medical evidence which proves that there is simply no better way of understanding what it might be like to live with dementia.

If you would like to take part in this experience, booking is essential. Call (074) 911 3050 for more information.

For more information on Home Instead’s dementia care services or to learn how to become a Professional CAREGiver, visit HomeInstead.ie or call 1800 911 855.
