Hospital staff make heartfelt donation to Donegal Donkey Sanctuary

Emergency Department staff at Letterkenny University Hospital have donated €600 to the Donegal Donkey Sanctuary in memory of a much-loved colleague.

The funds were raised in tribute to Johnny Keating to mark the what would have been his 40th birthday this year.

Johnny, a former admin staff member in the ED, passed suddenly in July 2022.

The Letterkenny man was an animal lover and had two rescue dogs called Jinx and Harvey so it was fitting that his friends and colleagues honoured his memory by supporting animals in need.

In a message of thanks, the Donegal Donkey Sanctuary owners Danny and Sandra Curran said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to the staff of the Emergency Department at Letterkenny University Hospital for their generosity in presenting a cheque for €600 to the sanctuary.

“What a wonderful act of kindness in the wake of tragedy. May Johnny rest in peace.”

The cheque was presented to sanctuary founder Danny and Elsa Curran by Sandra Keeney, Serena Kho and Caroline Timoney. Also pictured are their beautiful dogs Nala and Milo who instantly fell in love with little Rose.
