Tragic road victim Patricia McBrearty to be laid to rest today

An elderly women who died following a road tragedy in St Johnston last week is to be laid to rest today.

Patricia McBrearty, who was in her 80s, died after she was struck by a lorry in the village on Friday afternoon last at Church Street close to her home.

Mrs McBrearty’s tragic death led to a huge outpouring of grief locally in the community where she was a much-loved mother and neighbour.

She was the fourth person to be killed on the roads in the county within seven days.

Her funeral mass will take place this morning at 11am in St. Baithin’s Church.
