A well-known biker priest, Fr. Gerry Sweeney, is set to return to Inishowen for a special event combining his vocation and his love of motorcycles.

On Sunday, September 15th, Fr. Sweeney will be blessing motorcycles at St. Aengus’ Church, Burt, Co. Donegal. The blessing will take place at 1:30pm, followed by a bike ride to the RNLI Station at Ned’s Point, Buncrana, where refreshments will be served.

The event is being held to raise funds for the RNLI and donations will be accepted on the day.

Fr. Sweeney, a native of Derry, who recently became the Parish Priest of Dungiven, has a long-standing connection with the biker community.

Before the blessing ceremony, Fr. Sweeney will be celebrating Mass at St. Patrick’s Chapel, Dungiven, at 11:30 AM. Bikers from all over the region are invited to attend the Mass and then join the journey to Burt.
