Killaghtee Festival a resounding success

A big thank you to everyone who attended the Killaghtee Festival and made it such a special event.

From Dawn Yoga to craft fairs, we all had a great time. Despite some events having to be cancelled or postponed on Sunday, we still managed to cram a lot into the weekend.

Highlights included the coach trip to Ards and Glenveagh, Kelan Browne live and the walk to the Wedge Tombs.

Although the boat trip was re-scheduled, we finally made it out on 1 st September, for some stunning views, music and a talk from the Local Authority Water Programme. And yes, we did see dolphins!

Watch out for details of the postponed sports day and BBQ.

We will be posting more on Facebook over the next few days at https://www.facebook.com/DunkineelyCL

Triplets

Friday 23rd August marked the 75th birthday of the Triplets (Brian, Dennis and Sheilagh), born to Ellen Veronica Whitaker (Nee Quigley) and Naval Officer John Stanley Whitaker.

Ellen was born in Dunkineely back in 1919 and her siblings were Theresa (Tessy), Dan, Ann and Brian.

Ann is the only surviving sibling and she lives in N.Z aged 91 years.

The triplets are still all alive and well. Brian lives in N.Z, Dennis lives in Hertfordshire and Sheilagh lives in West Sussex.

The triplets were born in Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, Norwich. It was reported at the time they were the first surviving triplets at the hospital.

Two further siblings to the family were Eileen & Michael (elder sister and brother) are both sadly passed now. Thanks to Denis for passing this great little news story on.
