National: Man in critical condition following Derry assault

A man is in critical condition following an assault in Derry on Friday night.

Police are appealing for information after the man was found with serious injuries in the Sackville Street area of the city at approximately 9pm.

He was rushed to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Police have appealed to anyone who was in the area of Sackville Street and the Strand Road around 9pm on Friday night to come forward.

They have also asked anyone with CCTV, dash cam or other footage that may assist their enquiries to contact them.
