Seamus Coleman “unlikely” to feature for Ireland against Greece after England injury

Ireland Captain Seamus Coleman looks all but set to miss his country’s second Nations League matchup.

Coleman was forced off in the 58th minute in Ireland’s 2-0 defeat to England yesterday afternoon, after an accidental collision in the box.

It appeared that the boot of England defender Harry Maguire caught Coleman on his lower left leg, leaving the Killybegs man in a heap.

He was replaced by fellow Everton defender Jake O’Brien.

While it seems the injury may not be as severe as feared by many initially, it looks like Coleman may have to miss Ireland’s clash in Athens against Greece on Tuesday evening.

New Ireland boss Heimir Hallgrímsson told collected media at the Aviva Stadium that Coleman was “unlikely” to feature in that game.

It remains unclear as to whether this latest knock will keep Coleman out of Everton’s match with Aston Villa next weekend also.
