Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit arrested five motorists over the weekend on suspicion of drink and drug driving.
On Saturday night, a driver was detained on suspicion of drink driving and another for drug driving. On Sunday night, Gardaí arrested another three drivers on suspicion of drug driving.
“If you drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, you are putting your life and the lives of other road users at risk. It is that simple,” a garda spokesperson said.
“Call a taxi. Call a family member or friend. There is always a way to get home, a safe way. Do the right thing.”
