Cancelled: Protestors put the brakes on ‘go slow’ demonstration

Defective Concrete Blocks homeowners have announced they will no longer stage a ‘go slow’ protest in Letterkenny this evening (Thursday).

The original plan was to fill the main thoroughfare from Manor Roundabout to the Polestar with HGVs, tractors and vehicles at the same time as the Fianna Fáil Selection Convention in the Clanree Hotel.

Campaigners say they do not want to inconvenience traffic, and have switched plans to a ‘boots on the ground’ demonstration near the hotel.

The aim of the protest is to highlight homeowners’ distress with the lack of support for those struggling with the grant scheme and decisions to downgrade homeowners. The protest also seeks to oppose the u-turn on retrospective application of grant scheme enhancements, as well as the slow progress in reviewing IS:465.
