Funding of €101,387 has been allocated to Donegal organisations to upgrade their wheelchair accessible transport.
Aras Gaoth Dobhair and the Irish Wheelchair Association will be supported by Measure 2 of the 2024 CLÁR programme, announced today.
Overall, Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD announced €2,100,768 under Measure 2 of the CLÁR Programme – supporting the purchase of a record 48 vehicles in rural communities.
Aras Gaoth Dobhair received €40,400 for an accessible mini-van for mobility transport and for cancer care.
€60,987 was granted to The Irish Wheelchair Association in Donegal for a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, including clamping equipment.
John McNulty, candidate for Fine Gael in the upcoming General Election, said: “This funding, announced by Minister Heather Humphreys, supports organisations that provide free of charge transport to and from day care, or other medical therapy and respite services, and transport to or from designated cancer treatment hospitals and centres.
“This valuable funding and financial support from government is assisting community based organisations with the vital and selfless work they do.
“Rural communities benefit hugely from the Clár funding programme and this latest support is investing further in people who need this support most,” concluded McNulty.
