Fundraiser launched to help Ruby’s fight for life

A fundraiser has been launched to help aid a young girl from Donegal who has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer.

Six-year-old Ruby Kiernan-Houston was recently diagnosed with neuroblastoma, an aggressive form of cancer which was discovered after a routine visit to the A&E with some leg pain.

Now Ruby will require treatment, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery, to help battle the disease.

This will require constant trips to and from Dublin for Ruby, as well as her parents Alana and Seany.

Both of them are facing a loss in income, as they will have to take time off work to help Ruby get her treatment, as well as find places to stay in Dublin when Ruby is visiting Crumlin Children’s Hospital.

The fundraiser, set up by family friend Simone McCarron, is aiming to help fund Ruby’s treatment, and cover the loss in income that Alana and Seany are facing.

In less than a day, the €10,000 target set has been absolutely smashed by the local community – with an astonishing €50,000 being raised at the time of writing.
