A local paddler had a memorable encounter with a tired and timid seal at the weekend.
Chris McGaughey was having a coffee on Cruit Island pier when he spotted a quiet companion by his side.
Chris, who hadn’t noticed her at first, remained calm and captured a sweet video of his encounter.
Perhaps the seal was seeking a caffeine perk-up too!
“I didn’t even see her until I sat down,” Chris tells Donegal Daily.
“I was scouting out the kayak across to Owey.
“The rough seas had left her exhausted, so I rang Seal Rescue Ireland and they got her checked out. After a few hours she went on her way.”
