As the evenings get darker, gardaí are encouraging pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists to be safe and be seen.
A supply of hi-vis vests and armbands is now available at Letterkenny Garda Station and everybody is very welcome to call in to get some.
A spokesperson is urging all road users to check in on the precautions needed at this time of year: “Please remember when out walking, cycling or running that although you can see the traffic that the drivers may not always see you.
“Please check that your bicycle lights are working before going for a cycle.
“Motorists should ensure that the lights on their car, motorcycle, tractor, van etc. are all in good working order.
“For those who have trailers, please ensure that lights and reflectors are all in place and that they are in good working condition.”
