A pensioner has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a motorcyclist was killed in a hit and run in Fermanagh.

The accident occurred in Belleek on Thursday afternoon.

The victim has been named as 70-year-old Richard Maze.

Police said the collision happened on the Boa Island Road at approximately 2.55pm on Thursday.

Emergency crews attended but Mr Maze died at the scene.

Police said he was the rider of a motorcycle that was in collision with a dark-coloured car that failed to stop.

A 70-year-old man was later arrested.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “A 70-year old man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, failing to remain where accident occurred causing injury, failing to report an accident whereby injury was caused and failing to stop where accident occurred causing injury.

“He is due to appear at Enniskillen Magistrates Court on Monday 14th October. As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.”
