Dungloe 2-08 v 0-13 Glenswilly

Dungloe delivered the first shock result of the Donegal Senior Football Championship Quarter-Finals this afternoon with a superb win against Glenswilly.

Glenswilly were favoured to win the Senior Championship outright, after an impressive run of results in the Group stage putting Glenswilly top of the table.

However it was Dungloe that got off to a flying start, with two goals within the opening minutes from Daire Gallagher and Darren Curran giving Dungloe an early 2-00 to 0-02 lead.

Dungloe would only record two more scores in the first half, but still carried a lead into the half-time break; 2-02 to 0-06.

Glenswilly were able to draw level at points in the second half, points from Jamie McCauley Donal Gallagher and a vintage Michael Murphy free making it 2-03 to 0-09.

Both sides would trade points, before Dungloe’s Oisin Bonner strung off a number of scores in a row, to give his side a four point lead with less than ten minutes to play.

Glenswilly weren’t done there though, with points from Garry McFadden and Michael Murphy setting up a frantic finish – but Dungloe prevailed, and will now play in an unlikely Semi-Final.
