Irish Wheelchair Association calls for Donegal support ahead of fundraising day

The Irish Wheelchair Association has called on Donegal to help support their upcoming annual fundraising day.

It takes place next week, on Thursday the 26th of September.

They are looking for support, with on-street collectors raising funds.

You can also donate to their online fundraising efforts at iwa.ie.

The IWA has extended its thanks to students at St Eunan’s College in Letterkenny, who are chipping in to help fundraise on the day along with members at the IWC Community Centre.

IWA is dedicated to supporting people with disabilities in communities at a local and national level, helping people live a life full of choice, freedom, and joy. The charity relies on donations to fund essential services that benefit over 20,000 individuals nationwide. These services include sport, accessible homes, transport, assisted living services, and Community Centre programmes that are a vital lifeline for many, helping to combat loneliness and isolation.

Stephen Cawley, an IWA member, shared his gratitude for the organisation stating, “They seriously help out with everything, every single problem you could ever think of. There’s really nothing that they won’t go out of their way to help you with. That’s what makes this place so special. I’ve been here for two years, and I hope to be here for many more, so please donate now.”

Stephen is among the many who receive a variety of supports from IWA, including their accessible bus service.

“Without IWA’s bus service, many of our members would be isolated in their homes. Without our Community Centres, many would miss out on opportunities for learning and that social connection everyone needs. So much magic happens daily in IWA communities across Ireland and we rely on the generosity of donations to help to continue this amazing work,” says Breige McGinn, Head of Fundraising at the Irish Wheelchair Association.

By making a donation, you can help IWA continue their important work with people with physical disabilities throughout Ireland.
