The Gairmscoil Chú Uladh class of 23-24 recently celebrated record results in this year’s Leaving Certificate.

This Leaving Certificate cohort saw 31% of the group achieving over 500 points (compared to the 24% national average) with 69% of the year group securing more than 400 points in the Leaving Certificate (in contrast to the 52% national average).

Gairmscoil Chú Uladh’s first-ever Leaving Certificate Applied class of 2023- 2024 has achieved remarkable success with all pupils achieving distinctions.

The Class of 23-24 are pursuing careers in Architecture, Optometry, Financial Mathematics, Primary school teaching, Business, Post Primary Teaching, Forensics, Childcare, Management and Veterinary.

Speaking to Donegal Daily, School principal Ciarán Rodgers said “These outstanding results are a testament to this group’s resilience, hard work, and dedication of the GCU staff. Not only have our students surpassed national averages but our very first Leaving Certificate Applied class has made us extremely proud with the entire class achieving distinctions. These results further reinforce the effectiveness of immersive education as this cohort is the school’s very first group to receive their education 100% through the medium of Irish.”

Gairmscoil Chú Uladh is currently undertaking building works as three new state-of-the-art classrooms are to be completed by September 25-26. This development will include a new Home Economics room, a new Music room, and the addition of a Metalwork room to the school. An Autism unit is also currently in the planning stages.

Gairmscoil Chú Uladh’s Open Night will take place on Thursday 17th October @ 7 p.m.

Fifth and sixth Pupils from English-speaking and Irish-speaking primary schools are welcome on the night to see what our great school has to offer.

For more information, the school can be contacted on 0749546133 or at gcu@donegaletb.ie.
