Well, it was good while it lasted.

The recent sunny spell is officially over with temperatures set to begin to drop across Donegal from today.

Met Eireann says will be some sunny spells and scattered showers today as temperatures reach highs of 14 to 17 degrees and lows of 6 to 10 degrees overnight.

The national forecaster says there will be a “marked” drop in temperatures with “cold nights on the way” later this week.

Hazy sunshine tomorrow will bring with it highs of 12 to 16 degrees tomorrow alongside some well scattered showers.

Outbreaks of rain will return on Tuesday night but this will be in the southernmost parts of the country and some scattered showers could be possible in the north too.

Temperatures will turn colder as the week progresses, reaching overnight lows of 4 to 7 degrees on Thursday while Friday will be a chilly day with some sunshine and scattered showers along with highs of 9 to 13 degrees.

Temperatures could fall to the low single figures on Friday night with some frost and it grows colder after dark.

Met Éireann suggest Saturday will be a bright, cold day with sunny spells and scattered showers while Sunday will see wet and windy weather.
