The people of Raphoe and surrounding areas are invited to join in the festivities at the Raphoe Community Celebration Event on Saturday, 5th October 2024 from 1pm to 4pm at The Diamond, Raphoe.

This event is organised by Donegal Local Development Clg (DLDC) under the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) and will kick off with a parade at 1pm, followed by opportunities to meet local community groups, enjoy live music and entertainment, and experience the atmosphere of Highland Radio broadcasting live from the event.

This celebration is about bringing the community together, and with free entry, it’s a day for everyone to come out and be part of something special.

Mary Harte, Chair of Raphoe Community in Action, highlighted the importance of such events, saying, “This celebration is a wonderful way for us to showcase the vibrant community spirit in Raphoe. We’re proud to bring people together to celebrate the great work being done by local groups and organisations.”

There will be plenty of activities to enjoy, with something for all ages. Rose McCrossan, Manager of the Raphoe Family Resource Centre, added, “This is a fantastic opportunity for families and individuals to come together, connect, and build stronger relationships within the community. Events like this help us build a sense of belonging and inclusion that benefits everyone in Raphoe. Come along on what is sure to be a great day!”

The day has been made possible with the support of various community partners, and Karen McGinley, Assistant Manager, Community Development at DLDC, shared her thanks for all in Raphoe for coming together for the event: “We’re delighted to support such a positive initiative.

“The Raphoe Community Celebration Event is a true reflection of what can be achieved when local organisations work together to promote social inclusion and community engagement. The response from local groups has been amazing and we are so grateful to the people from Raphoe for all their hard work in making the day possible.”

With live entertainment, community stalls, and plenty of surprises, the Raphoe Community Celebration Event promises to be a day to remember. Whether you’re new to the area or have lived here all your life, everyone is welcome to join the fun.

The event is supported by the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP), which is co-funded by the Government of Ireland, through the Department of Rural and Community Development, and the European Union.
