Alleged puppy attack in Buncrana park prompts renewed call on dog owners

Dog owners in Buncrana are being reminded to keep their pets on leads after another reported incident in Swan Park.

The park, which is dog-friendly, requires dog owners to leash their dog and be mindful of their responsibilities.

However, an incident on Saturday has renewed the call for stricter dog control after a puppy was reportedly attacked by a larger dog in the park.

Cllr Jack Murray said: “In recent times I’ve been contacted by parents of autistic children, small dog owners, elderly people – and those who are just generally afraid of dogs – to ask that the rules in the park are adhered to.

“Let’s ensure that the park is enjoyed by everyone. Dog owners should always be able to enjoy this special place but we should always be mindful of others.”
