Talented brothers to represent Donegal at World Darts Masters!

Two talented brothers are to represent Donegal at the WDF World Masters Championships this week in Hungary.

Teenage brothers 16-year-old Shane Porter and 13-year-old Jack Porter from Letterkenny have both qualified for the Boys tournament in Budapest, after impressive showings on the national scene.

Strong performances at the Irish Open and Irish Classic finals earlier in the year secured the Porter boys their place on one of the biggest stages the WDF has to offer for young darters.

They will face off against around 200 other young players, firstly in group stage competition before hopefully advancing to the latter knockout rounds of the competition.

But as proud dad Gerald told Donegal Daily, this trip is about building confidence and experience as it’s the first time the boys have taken on such a large international competition.

“This is our first time going to an open singles event, so the plan is to try and come out of the groups and see where we go.”

“It’s going to be a great experience… to see how they shape up against these top players in the world.”

Gerald and the rest of the family will be there every step of the way to support the boys during the tournament, as they will also make the journey to Hungary this week.

Both Jack and Shane have been in fine form, and have seen victories in local competition in Donegal in recent months in the lead up to their WDF debut.

Competiton in the WDF World Masters Championships gets underway on Thursday.
