Buncrana GAA club has announced the launch of an exciting new fundraising initiative, the ‘50/50 Draw’, designed to engage the local community and provide crucial support for the club’s ongoing development.

This new fundraiser will not only give participants the chance to win big but also directly contribute to the advancement of Buncrana GAA’s facilities, programs, and youth development initiatives.

The 50/50 Draw is modelled after traditional lotto-style fundraisers but with a special twist: 50% of the total funds raised each week will go directly to the winner, while the remaining 50% will support Buncrana GAA.

Every ticket purchased will go towards bolstering the club’s resources, providing vital equipment, upgrading facilities, and ensuring the club continues to be a vibrant hub for players, supporters, and the wider community.

The first draw due to take place on Tuesday 22nd of October, the 50/50 Draw will take place every week, with tickets available for purchase both in-person via SuperValu, McKennas Londis, the Post Office and online. By offering a hybrid purchasing model, Buncrana GAA is ensuring that as many people as possible can participate, particularly diaspora across Ireland, the UK, USA, Australia and beyond.

Chairman of Buncrana GAA, Malachy McCann, expressed his enthusiasm for the new initiative and the potential it holds for both the club and the community.

He said “We are absolutely delighted to launch the 50/50 Draw as a fun and exciting way for our supporters and members of the local community to get involved with the club. It’s not just about winning; it’s about supporting our players and providing them with the best possible facilities and opportunities to grow and succeed. Buncrana GAA is a family club, deeply rooted in this community, and this fundraiser is a way for us to work together towards building an even brighter future.”

He continued “We believe the 50/50 Draw is a win-win for everyone. Not only do participants have the chance to take home a fantastic cash prize, but they are also contributing to something bigger. Every ticket purchased is an investment in the future of the club and the youth who will carry our legacy forward.”

How It Works

The concept of the 50/50 Draw is straightforward and easy for anyone to understand, making it accessible to all. Each week, participants can purchase tickets for the draw (€2 each or 3 for €5), with no limit on the number of tickets a person can buy. The price per ticket is set at a very affordable rate to encourage widespread participation across all segments of the community.

At the end of each week, one lucky winner will be drawn from the pool of entries. Half of the total funds collected from ticket sales will go directly to the winner as a cash prize, and the remaining half will be allocated to Buncrana GAA. The draw will be conducted publicly and transparently, ensuring fairness and excitement for all participants. The first draw is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 22nd of October with the first draw to be livestreamed on the Buncrana GAA Facebook page.

Why It Matters

Fundraising initiatives like the 50/50 Draw are essential to the success and sustainability of local sports clubs like Buncrana GAA. With rising costs associated with maintaining and improving facilities, ensuring that players of all ages and skill levels have access to top-quality equipment, and fostering a safe and enjoyable environment for youth development, community support is more important than ever.

Buncrana GAA invites everyone in the local community, near and far, to get involved in the 50/50 Draw. Tickets will be available at SuperValu, McKennas Londis, the Post Office and through the club’s 50/50 committee and online bit.ly/GAA50draw .

Our sellers will also be in SuperValu Buncrana and McKenna’s Buncrana in the coming weeks, both of who we thank for their continued support of the club. Anyone who has paid an online subscription for our outgoing Mini Lotto will be automatically moved to the new 50:50 draw. The last draw for the Mini Lotto will be on Tuesday the 15th of October.

With the excitement already building, Buncrana GAA club encourages everyone to purchase their tickets early and spread the word to friends and family. By participating, not only are you in with a chance to win but you are also playing a vital role in supporting one of the most cherished institutions in the community.

For more information on how to participate follow Buncrana GAA on Facebook and Instagram.

As an added incentive, the Anglo Celt cup will be making an appearance along with Donegal GAA stars of past and present at both SuperValu and McKenna’s Londis on Saturday October 12th. Come along to see the stars and support our rising stars!
