Murphy praises fans as Harps hang on by fingertips to play-off chance

Finn Harps’ chances of a promotion play-off place is no longer in their own hands.

But that hasn’t stopped Harps Darren Murphy paying tribute to the ‘magnificent’ fans.

The team extended their unbeaten ru to six games in a thrilling encounter at the Carlisle Grounds last Friday night.

Goals from Success Edogun and Tony McNamee put Harps ahead twice, but unfortunately the Wicklow men equalised quickly on both occasions to keep themselves 5 points ahead in the final playoff place.

Murphy appealed for more support from the fans at Finn Park in a crucial final week, starting tonight against Wexford.

“I hope we can get the fans in, get behind the boys, and see if we can take it to the last game…that’s what the boys deserve” he said.

A win tonight will ensure that the Harps have a chance of salvaging a playoff spot which seemed to have slipped away with a poor mid season run in an otherwise highly positive season.

But the team have shown massive character to finish strongly, and a win over already qualified Wexford would see them in a shootout with Bray Wanderers on the final day, with Harps claiming a playoff if they beat Treaty at home and Bray lose in Cobh.

Tickets for both this week’s home games are on sale now at https://finnharps.ie/tickets/ and we need a big final push from every supporter and season ticket holder to help the lads get over the line.

Tickets also available at the Chestnut Road (Aldi) entrance on both match nights as usual.
